Ruddington: Police pursuit as car loaded with drugs gets stuck in field

Police have arrested two men after a car containing a large amount of drugs was seen being driven across a field.

Officers were called to Asher Lane, Ruddington, at around 11.15 am on Wednesday (4 October) following reports the vehicle was stuck on farming land.

Two police patrol cars boxed the vehicle in as it attempted to leave the field.

When officers carried out a search they discovered a large quantity of cannabis bagged up inside the vehicle.

Two men, aged 30 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. The 33-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive through drugs.

Inspector Tim Cuthbert, neighbourhood policing inspector for Rushcliffe, said:

“We are always alert to suspicious behaviour like this and were able to quickly attend the scene, box in this vehicle and search it.

“The drugs found within the car will be taken off the streets and destroyed. The supply of cannabis is often linked to wider, serious criminality and is taken very seriously by the force.

“I’d like to thank the member of the public for reporting this incident to us. Officers cannot be everywhere and people in rural communities like this are our eyes and ears.

“Although we arrested two suspects our investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with any information should call 101, quoting incident number 211 of 4 October 2023, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
