Rushcliffe MP visits Rushcliffe Spencer Academy as expansion work progresses

A multi-million-pound expansion at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy in West Bridgford is progressing well and expected to open after the summer.

Ruth Edwards MP visited the new teaching block under construction —which will include technology facilities, English and media classrooms, dining facilities and a huge sports hall.

The school has received £27 million in government funding for its expansion, which will create hundreds of new places for local children.

Speaking after the visit, Ruth said:

“We are fortunate to have excellent schools in Rushcliffe, but in recent years they have seen a growing demand for places.

“The good news is that Rushcliffe Spencer Academy is progressing at pace with its major expansion. I met with the team and visited the new facilities under construction — I’m pleased to say it’s on track to be completed this year, and it will create hundreds more places for local children.

“One of my ambitions for Rushcliffe is for our local children to get an excellent education in modern and well-equipped schools. This multi-million-pound investment will make sure that happens.”

Rushcliffe Spencer Academy is one of many schools across our county that are being improved and upgraded.
