Rushcliffe resident awoken by intruders with ‘firearm’ in summerhouse break-in

An investigation is underway following a reported robbery at an East Bridgford home.

Two intruders reportedly broke into a summerhouse in the garden of a property in Closes Side Lane.

This happened around 2.35am today (3 February), while a man was sleeping inside the summerhouse.

He was at that point woken up by the unknown offenders before reportedly being threatened with a firearm.

The man was unharmed during the incident, with the thieves stealing his electric bike before fleeing from the scene.

Officers don’t believe the firearm brandished was a viable one but instead suspect it to have been a BB gun or air pistol.

The two intruders reportedly had their faces covered with balaclavas throughout the incident.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Gregg, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This will have no doubt been a very frightening experience for the victim, so we’re determined to get him some answers.

“We’re still at the very early stages of our investigation, so would ask anyone who has any information about what happened to please share it with us immediately.

“That could be anything they’ve seen, anything they’ve heard, or anything they may have inadvertently recorded on their CCTV or doorbell cameras.

“This can be shared, either directly to the police by calling 101, quoting incident 41 of 3 February 2026, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
