Rushcliffe Spencer Academy celebrates GCSE results

This week has brought further cause for celebration at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy, as this year’s outcomes in Y11 continue to reflect the incredibly high standards and commitment to excellence that have become a hallmark of the Academy.

Nearly three-quarters of students achieved a strong pass (Grade 5 or above) in English and Maths, with a breathtaking 30% of students achieving Grades 9–7 in English and Maths, a best-ever result for the Academy. In addition, the Academy is delighted to share that 42% of the total grades awarded were Grade 7 or above, and a staggering 10% of all grades awarded were Grade 9. These results build on the excellent outcomes achieved in recent years and demonstrate the Academy’s focus on continued improvement and success.

While the Academy is rightly proud of the achievements of every student, particular congratulations are due to Cerys Fair, Oliver Steeples, Hana Ahmad, Neela Thiara, Ottilie Jones and Ektor Karelis, who all achieved seven or more Grade 9s. Within this group, Ektor achieved the incredible milestone of a clean sweep of nine Grade 9s and a Distinction*, a truly astonishing result.

Also to be congratulated is Imogen Loveridge, who achieved four Grade 9s, three Grade 8s, one Grade 7 and one Grade 6, whilst also managing her sporting commitments outside of school, including winning gold at the recent Touch Rugby World Cup. Jamie Adlam is also to be congratulated, having achieved six Grades 9–7 alongside his commitments to theatre, and has secured a place at a prestigious London drama school. On receiving his results, Jamie said, “I am proud of my results. Rushcliffe has given me confidence in the results I have come out with. Rushcliffe is a positive place where it is cool to do well and you are supported by amazing staff. Now I have finished my time at Rushcliffe, I am looking forward to the wider world as I move to London.”

Principal Sarah Sismey said, “I could not be prouder of this cohort of students. Having missed out on so much at the end of their primary education due to the pandemic, they have risen to every challenge we’ve given them. They have worked incredibly hard to achieve these outcomes and richly deserve to celebrate their successes today. I would like to thank our parents and carers for their support throughout their children’s journey with us, as well as recognise the huge amount of support and work from all our staff in supporting them both academically and pastorally. It is fantastic that so many of them plan to stay with us next year, and we look forward to welcoming them into our Sixth Form. We wish every member of this wonderful year group every success as they take their next steps.”
