A Rushcliffe teenager who became the youngest-ever British Indoor Karting Championship (BIKC) Junior Champion will defend his title at this month’s national final.
Joshua Robinson, 14, from Clipston, has qualified for the BIKC Grand Final in Warrington on 14 November, where he will compete against young drivers from across the country.
Joshua won the junior title in 2025 capping an extraordinary journey after first getting behind the wheel of a kart during a Scout trip to TeamSport Nottingham in 2023.
That introduction to the sport led to him progressing through indoor karting, outdoor competitions and national events.
Alongside racing and school, Joshua plays football for Dunkirk FC and cricket for Ruddington Cricket Club.
Following his BIKC success, he moved into outdoor karting with Club100, securing multiple podium finishes and top-ten results. He was named Cadet Rookie of the Year in 2025.
In 2026, Joshua stepped up to owner-driver karting, competing in the Junior Rotax category with Dave Edwards Racing. He has raced at circuits across the country, achieving several podium finishes and gaining experience against some of Britain’s leading young drivers.
He now returns to Warrington as the defending BIKC junior champion.
Joshua said: “Winning the championship last year was an amazing moment and something I’ll never forget. To have the chance to go back and defend the title means a lot. I’ve worked hard all year and I’m looking forward to racing against the best drivers in the country again.”
As Joshua progresses in the sport, his family are seeking sponsorship from local businesses to help meet the increasing costs of competing at national level.
Support would contribute towards his development and a planned 2027 campaign, which is expected to include the Wera Tools British Kart Championship, The Karting Championship and the Trent Valley Kart Club Championship at the Paul Fletcher International circuit.
