Ruth Edwards hailed the success of ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ in Rushcliffe which saw over 50,000 meals discounted as part of the scheme launched by the Chancellor Rishi Sunak.
Across the Rushcliffe constituency, 89 establishments signed up to the scheme which ran throughout August and was designed to support the hospitality sector by encouraging people to eat-out at their local pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants.
Data from OpenTable shows bookings increased by an average 52 per cent on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through the whole of August, compared to the same period in 2019.
Commenting on the success, Ruth Edwards MP said:
“I’m pleased to hear this scheme was such a success in Rushcliffe. It’s great that so many people have got out there and shown support for our brilliant restaurants, cafes and pubs.
“Rushcliffe has always taken pride in its thriving high streets and villages and the Eat Out to Help Out scheme was an important boost for our hospitality sector.
“I am confident that people across Rushcliffe will continue to support this industry now that the scheme has ended and ensure that local businesses continue to thrive.”
