School closures: Can children go to the park and have playdates?

PUBLISHED

A question that was asked during the Prime Minister’s daily briefing today.

Deputy chief medical officer Dr Jenny Harries – was asked if children can still go to the park and have play dates with their friends etc

She said that it’s a “balance between maintaining physical and mental wellbeing”

“We aren’t saying don’t go outside. We’re saying go outside but in a way that reduces your social contact and maintains some distancing…

“We very much we want children to be exercising, but not to do so in groups.”

A bike ride might be appropriate, she added.
