Residents in West Bridgford are being invited to share their views on the potential creation of a Town Council through a public consultation survey.
The survey, led by the West Bridgford Local Area Forum Town Council & Neighbourhood Plan (TCNP) Working Group, goes live on Monday 9 February and will close on Monday 2 March.
It aims to gather feedback from people who live in West Bridgford and area on whether establishing a Town Council is something they would like to see explored further, especially in light of the potential replacement of Rushcliffe Borough Council by a much larger unitary authority through Local Government Reform plans.
Other areas are already taking action ahead of any forthcoming Local Government Reorganisation. North West Leicestershire District Council is promoting town council status for Coalville, and Charnwood Borough Council is doing the same for Loughborough, to help protect local influence if larger authorities are created.
A Town Council can provide a more local tier of representation and service provision. The Working Group is keen to understand residents’ awareness, priorities, and views before any potential next steps are considered.
Residents can take part in the survey in the following ways:

The Working Group encourages residents from across the community to take part so that the feedback received reflects a broad range of local views.
Survey opens: Monday 9 February 2026
Survey closes: Monday 2 March 2026
