Sneinton and Forest Fields rapes lead to long jail term for Nottingham man

A Nottingham man has been jailed after being convicted of raping two women in separate incidents 15 months apart.

Omran Ahmed, 37, of Ilkeston Road, Nottingham, was given an extended 20-year sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday after a jury found him guilty in September 2025 of raping both victims. He was also convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to the first victim.

The court heard Ahmed raped a woman at an address in Sneinton on 20 December 2023. During the attack he repeatedly punched her in the face. In his first police interview Ahmed denied any sexual contact. Months later, after DNA evidence was presented, he said he had been asleep and had no memory of events.

While on Crown Court bail awaiting trial for that offence, Ahmed raped a second woman at an address in Forest Fields on 20 March 2025 after being introduced through a mutual friend. He again denied the offence during police interview despite the evidence.

Following the investigation he was remanded into custody and continued to deny the allegations until the jury returned guilty verdicts for both rapes.

Detective Constable Alexander Terry of Nottinghamshire Police said the outcome reflected the seriousness of the offences and thanked both victims for supporting the investigation.
