A runaway driver faces jail after he led police officers on a high-speed pursuit through residential streets.
Logan Brandt, aged 24, was instructed to stop on New Year’s Day after being spotted driving in Bulwell without tax, insurance, a driving licence, or a valid MOT.
In the minutes that followed, he reached speeds of more than 70 mph, drove on the wrong side of the road, ran red lights, and carried out dangerous overtakes.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said:
‘Brandt was eventually brought to a halt following a textbook Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC) operation involving our roads policing and road crime team officers, along with armed response colleagues and control room staff.
‘As Brandt continued to endanger other road users, our officers devised a plan to stop him safely by deploying a tyre-deflating stinger device on the brow of a hill.
With one of his tyres deflated, Brandt began to lose control, at which point pursuing vehicles boxed him in.
‘In a futile attempt to avoid responsibility, he then jumped into the back seat and claimed he hadn’t been driving.
‘He also falsely alleged that he had suffered a broken leg during the incident.
‘After failing an initial roadside drug wipe, Brandt later walked into custody, gave no-comment answers during questioning, and refused to provide us with an evidential blood sample.
‘Appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 2 January, Brandt, of Dennis Avenue, Beeston, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and driving without a licence.
‘He was jailed for a total of eight months and banned from driving.
‘He has multiple previous convictions, including for assaulting an emergency worker.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore said: “Brandt put himself, his passenger, and other road users at risk with a needless and dangerous display of driving.
“Had he simply pulled over and owned up to far less serious offences, he wouldn’t be starting the New Year in prison.
“Thanks to the skill and professionalism of everyone involved in this pursuit, he failed in his bid to avoid justice and has now faced the full consequences of his actions.
“This really was a textbook display of Tactical Pursuit and Containment, and my compliments go to the teams involved.”
