A suspect has now been charged following an assault in Bestwood that left a man with slash wounds.
The 32-year-old victim was attacked as he walked along Bembridge Drive towards Sandby Banks Nature Reserve.
Neighbourhood officers came to the injured man’s aid after spotting him while they were out on patrol in Oxclose Lane.
The assault happened around 7.10pm on Friday (7 August), with the victim receiving treatment for injuries that aren’t believed to be life-altering.
Three suspects were identified and arrested on Sunday (9 August) morning, with one of them – Mark Crampton – being charged on Tuesday (11 August) with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Crampton, 54, of Chippenham Road, Bestwood, is due to attend Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later on today (12 August).
A 42-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy previously arrested in connection with the incident have meanwhile both been released on conditional bail.
Detective Inspector Stu Barson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“While it’s pleasing to announce news of this charge today, I would add that this is still very much an ongoing investigation.
“This was a very serious assault on a man who thankfully didn’t sustain far more severe injuries.
“As such, it is really important that anyone shares anything they may have seen or anything they may have heard about this incident, however small or insignificant it may seem.
“We’d also ask anyone with footage of the incident – whether that be CCTV, doorbell, phone, or dash-cam – to hand this over to the police, if they haven’t done so already.”
