Suspect charged after man suffers serious head injuries in Ruddington

A suspect has appeared in court over allegations of an assault on a man who needed surgery after suffering serious head injuries.

The 28-year-old victim was knocked unconscious after reports of a fight on Easthorpe Street in Ruddington.

He required emergency surgery and is still in hospital after he was allegedly punched to the head and fell to the floor during an altercation at around 9pm on August 21.

Yvan Pennant, 27, of Moor Park Lane, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (3 September 2021) charged with wounding without intent and common assault.

He was granted conditional bail and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 1 October 2021.

Detective Inspector Nick Hall, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The force treats all reports of serious assaults and violence extremely seriously.

“We have been carrying out thorough enquiries since this incident was reported to us and I’m pleased our investigation has now led to a suspect being brought before the court and we now await the outcome of the case.”
