A suspected drug dealer was pulled from an electric scooter as he attempted to ride away from plain-clothed officers.
Members of the knife-crime team were on a routine patrol in Nottingham City Centre on Monday (14 July) when they spotted a young man acting suspiciously in Old Market Square shortly after 2pm.
As they approached the suspect, he attempted to pull away on an electric scooter but was swiftly detained and placed in handcuffs.
A subsequent search uncovered a quantity of cannabis and cash.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply, and theft of a pedal cycle.
Sergeant Matthew Daley, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Knife Crime Team, said:
“Illegal drugs are very often linked to offences of serious violence, which is why we operate regular plain clothed patrols in and around the city centre.
“Being out of uniform allows us to observe suspects more closely, to spot suspicious behaviours and – ultimately – to take drugs and weapons off of our streets.”
