Officers from Operation Reacher became slightly suspicious of a telehandler they were following last night ( 11 October ) from Worksop towards Blyth.
Police described the incident.
The time of night accompanied by a very nervous driver, things just didn’t add up.
On went the blue lights and sirens and the 15-ton bit of machinery had no desire to stop for the police.
A short, low speed pursuit commenced, before the vehicle attempted to go off road and the driver leapt through several bushes making good his escape across several fields.
A quick thank you for looking straight into our dash cam (with no face covering) both whilst driving and upon decamping from the vehicle. We shall have a catch up soon.
These vehicles and machinery are often stolen and used to commit more serious crime.
They are normally the equipment of choice to pull cash points from walls and breach sophisticated security measures.
It is highly likely that such a crime was prevented.
Despite best efforts we have been unable to trace the owner of this machine. We highly doubt someone has decided to take their own telehandler along to commit crime.
This vehicle was seen on Owday Lane, heading towards Blyth Road.
It is believed that it was in convoy with other vehicles, all drivers and occupants wearing balaclavas.
