Taxi driver’s dashcam shows him sexually assault passenger near Clifton

When officers downloaded the dashcam footage, they could see the entire incident taking place.

A taxi driver has been jailed after he was recorded on his own dashcam sexually assaulting a female passenger.

Imran Yaseen, aged 40, targeted the woman shortly before 11pm on 14 February 2024 after picking her up from Nottingham City Centre.

The victim, a woman in her thirties, was sitting in the front passenger seat when Yaseen began making inappropriate comments to her.

He then began touching her leg before pulling over near Clifton and subjecting her to a serious sexual assault.

Yaseen was quickly identified by the taxi firm and was arrested by Nottinghamshire Police the following day.

His car was then seized, along with an inward-facing dashboard camera installed to protect him and other drivers from harm.

When officers downloaded the footage, they were able to see and hear the entirety of the incident.

Yaseen, of Burnside Road, Bilborough, later pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault.

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, 14 November, he was jailed for 16 months and added to the sex offenders’ register for ten years.

He was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which will prevent him from driving a taxi when he is released from prison.

PC Tom Gregory, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was an opportunistic assault on a vulnerable female passenger, and I am pleased Yaseen has now been jailed.

“The victim in this case put her trust in him to take her home safely, and he utterly abused that trust by subjecting her to a prolonged sexual assault.

“Thanks to the evidence contained on his own dashcam camera, he had little option but to plead guilty and will now spend a significant amount of time in prison.

“When he is released, he will also be banned from driving taxis and having contact with other female passengers.”
