A teenager has appeared in court charged in connection with a mobile phone robbery.
It comes after police recovered thousands of pounds worth of stolen mobile phones and arrested two suspects within minutes of a reported robbery at the Three store in Stodman Street, Newark.
It’s alleged two offenders wearing face coverings entered the shop and threatened a member of staff before loading up boxes with a large number of phones, tablets, and earphones.
They ran off with the boxes following the robbery which happened around 2.45pm on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
Officers were quickly on scene, searched the area, and arrested two suspects a short time later after a foot chase.
A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was subsequently charged with robbery and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (4 January 2024).
He was remanded in secure youth detention accommodation and is next due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on 24 January 2024.
Another 15-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of robbery, has been released on conditional bail while police continue with their inquiries.
