The Friary has recently launched its Winter Appeal for 2024/2025.
This year’s appeal emphasises providing a brighter future for those who visit the drop-in centre. It focuses on the role that the Friary plays in supporting those who are experiencing difficult and sometimes traumatic life events.
These events significantly contribute to their homelessness and make it difficult for them to progress out of it.
The organisation works with visitors who have experienced, or are experiencing, relationship breakdown, bereavement, poor physical health or disability, poor mental health, issues around addiction, domestic violence, abuse or trauma, being a victim of crime, time spent in prison, job loss or low income, high accommodation costs, or the loss of a property.
Dealing with these sorts of issues can be difficult for people with a strong support network, but this is magnified even further for those who don’t have anyone to lean on. The Friary provides a space where people can engage with support workers and volunteers as they work through these challenges.
Now in its 37th year, the Friary continues to provide hope and a brighter future for those who access the centre. The centre can only continue to operate through the generosity of donations from the local community.
