Three men are in custody after an early morning raid on business premises, during which a quantity of cigarettes, alcohol and cash was stolen.
The incident happened just before 1.30am on Sunday 6 September in Foxhall Road in Forest Fields.
The suspects used a crowbar to smash through the shutters and glass and, once inside the business unit, stole a quantity of items.
The vehicle used in the crime had been stolen from the St Ann’s area and was sighted by officers driving at speed on Aspley Lane.
Officers then located the vehicle parked near St Michaels Avenue, where they attended a nearby address.
Within the address, the items stolen during the burglary were discovered.
Three men, aged 41, 41 and 40, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in police custody.
Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas said: “These individuals thought they could get away with targeting a local business in the dead of night.
“Not only did they cause a significant amount of damage to the property, but they also stole a significant number of items from within, using a car that had been reported stolen.
“Thankfully, our officers were close by and managed to track the vehicle to a property in St Michaels Avenue, where we not only arrested three suspects on suspicion of burglary but also recovered the stolen items and the vehicle.
“As you would expect, we won’t tolerate this type of behaviour on our city streets, and we are progressing this investigation to ensure those who are responsible face the justice they deserve.”
