Two arrests after cannabis deal bags seized from car in Nottingham

Two suspected drug dealers were detained after a car was pulled over in Nottingham because of concerns it wasn’t insured.

Roads Policing team officers were travelling through Beechdale when the vehicle came to their attention.

When the system suggested that it wasn’t insured properly, police brought the car to a stop in Beechdale Road at around 6pm on Sunday (5 November).

Following a lengthy discussion with the driver, officers started to notice a pungent smell of cannabis coming from the car.

This resulted in two bags – both of which contained multiple deals of cannabis inside them – being found and seized by officers.

Weighing scales were also discovered during the search.

A 40-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were both subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs.

PC Jon Pinnick, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“After intelligence suggested this car was being driven without the right insurance, we made the decision to pull it over to talk to the people inside about this issue.

“At that point, we started to suspect the vehicle could have links to drug activity, so carried out a search at the roadside, which ultimately led to us seizing multiple deal bags of cannabis.

“We don’t want to see people dealing drugs in our communities, so will always take action should we believe that this could be taking place.

“This ended up being a good result for us, following what was a standard vehicle stop, but while we arrested two suspects in connection with this incident, our inquiries are very much still ongoing.

“We’d ask anyone with any information about this to please get in touch with the police on 101, quoting 480 of 5 November 2023, or to report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
