Two arrests after police called to fuel theft on the A1

Police arrested two men on the A1 following a fuel theft incident that occurred near Cromwell near Newark in the early hours of Friday morning.

Officers were called to a layby shortly after midnight amid reports of suspects siphoning fuel from one lorry to another. Upon arrival, the officers stopped the suspect lorry just as it began to pull away.

“This was a fantastic effort by our officers, who acted quickly to stop the lorry before it escaped. Fuel theft poses a significant financial impact on the industry, and we always respond robustly. Fortunately, we managed to detain two suspects and recover key evidence during this incident.”
