Two arrests after sledgehammer and iron bar allegedly used in Sherwood burglary

It was reported that two suspects forced their way inside an address and attacked the occupants with weapons.

Nottinghamshire Police have arrested two men and recovered weapons suspected to have been used during an early morning incident in Sherwood.

Officers were called to a report of a disturbance in Costock Avenue just before 12.45am today.

It was reported that two suspects forced their way inside an address and attacked the occupants with weapons. No-one was seriously injured during the incident.

Two men, aged 29 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of affray and aggravated burglary and remain in custody.

Weapons believed to have been used during the incident, including a sledgehammer and a metal bar, were recovered by officers.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“There was a lot of activity out on the street when it happened so I’d urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information which could help our investigation to please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 46 of 14 June 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
