Two charged after £250,000 drugs den discovered in Nottingham

They appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court at a later date.

Two people have been remanded in custody having been charged after the discovery of a large suspected drugs den.

Leon Smart, 34, and Elen Ekpaloba, 25, both of Bulwell Lane, Basford, were arrested following a warrant in Bulwell Lane, Old Basford, at around 8.30am on Tuesday 21 September.

They have both since been charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis, mamba and cocaine along with the possession of criminal property.

Neighbourhood Inspector Gordon Fenwick, said: “We had conducted a planned warrant involving several specialist policing teams.

“We take every single piece of information we receive seriously and will always act on intelligence. We are actively cracking down on drug dealing in our neighbourhoods.”

Policing teams from the city west, who were supported by a dog and drone officer, were involved a planned operation in Bulwell Lane, Old Basford, that was executed at around 8.30am on Wednesday (21 September) after information received from the local community.

Once inside the property, officers discovered a number of locked rooms.

Inside they found cash safes containing around £100,000 in cash along with jewellery and two tasers.

They also uncovered a large bundle of cannabis, a large bag of mamba and two suspected blocks of cocaine along with around £2,000 in cash.

A BB gun and an imitation machete were also seized from the property.
