Two in court after car stolen in Keyworth burglary

Two suspected burglars have appeared in court after a car was stolen following a Keyworth break-in.

Detectives launched an investigation after a property in High View Avenue, Keyworth, was targeted on 17 March 2025 around 5.30am.

Car keys were taken and the vehicle was driven to the West Midlands area.

Investigations led to the arrests of two men after detectives carried out CCTV analysis and other inquiries.

Rhys Abbott, aged 20, of London Road, Leicester, and 19-year-old Roman Stevenson, of Acacia Crescent, Bedworth, Warwickshire, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (30 April) charged with burglary.

They were remanded in custody until their next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 28 May 2025.

Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of the force’s county burglary team, said:

“Any burglary is an upsetting experience for the victim which can leave them feeling unsafe in their own home.

“We also know how upsetting and inconvenient it can be to discover your car missing from the driveway.

“I hope the village community is reassured by our response which has now seen these suspects placed before magistrates.”
