Police made two arrests following a street chase in Nottingham.
Officers were called to Cromwell Street, Radford, shortly before 8.40pm on Sunday (26 July) following reports of a man had been chased by two other men, one of whom had been armed with a bladed weapon.
Armed officers were dispatched and two young men, aged 19, were arrested nearby at 8.55pm.
Both suspects were found to be in possession of machetes and were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
They have since been charged with possession of bladed articles and bailed with conditions. Enquiries into the reported affray remain ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We will always be relentless in our pursuit of those involved in knife crime as we cannot allow people to behave in the manner witnessed in this incident.
“People in the area may understandably be concerned, but I hope they welcome our robust response and these two arrests.
“An investigation by detectives is ongoing, and we’d like to hear from anyone with information, or relevant CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of the incident.”
