Testing

Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.

There were 741,912 tests reported on 25 May 2021. This shows an increase of 2.4% compared to the previous 7 days.

Between 19 May 2021 and 25 May 2021, there have been 6,231,805 tests.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

3,180 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 26 May 2021.

Between 20 May 2021 and 26 May 2021, 18,744 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 18.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

38,378,564 people had been given a first dose by the end of 25 May 2021.

23,616,498 people had been given a second dose by the end of 25 May 2021.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

115 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 22 May 2021.

Between 16 May 2021 and 22 May 2021, 789 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 10.8% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 954 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 24 May 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 128 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 25 May 2021.

Deaths

There were 9 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 26 May 2021.

Between 20 May 2021 and 26 May 2021, there have been 54 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows no change compared to the previous 7 days.
