A man has been charged after we discovered 80 wraps of Class A drugs and a zombie knife as part of Operation Nexus.
Operation Nexus is a new campaign, launched in September, which has seen additional resources and powers introduced to tackle antisocial behaviour and crime hotspots across Nottinghamshire.
During a dedicated plain-clothed operation in Sutton-in-Ashfield on Tuesday morning, our officers received intelligence of suspected drug dealing taking place in the nearby Sutton Lawns area.
The team headed to the park, where they spotted a man who they believed to be acting suspiciously.
Following a stop and search, officers discovered 80 individual wraps of suspected Class A drugs, as well as an amount of cash.
A zombie knife was also seized from an associated address.
Vasco O’Neil, aged 19, of Calderdale, Nottingham, has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on December 2, 2026.
Chief Inspector Ed Cook said: “Operation Nexus is our campaign to tackle antisocial behaviour, drug dealing, violence, and any other form of crime affecting our neighbourhoods.
“In this case, our covert officers were quick to act and secured an arrest.
“Operation Nexus goes to show that even if you can’t see us, we are there, and we are ready to act.”
