The A46 in Lincolnshire is closed in both directions between the B1378 (Skellingthorpe) and the B1190 (Doddington Roundabout, near Lincoln) due to a collision involving multiple vehicles which occurred shortly after 13:15 this afternoon.

Lincolnshire Police are on scene and require the attendance of our service providers due to a fuel spillage.
Police said:
‘Skellingthorpe roundabout to Doddington roundabout on the A46 in Lincoln is currently closed following a multiple vehicle collision. The road is expected to be closed for some time, so please avoid the area. Incident 153 of today’s date.’

Diversion Routes
Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the solid circle symbol on road signs:
- From the A46 Carholme Roundabout, take the first exit onto the A57 towards Lincoln. Continue along the A57 Carholme Road passing through a number of pedestrian crossings to the A57/B1273 Carholme Road/Brayford Way traffic lights.
- At the traffic lights turn right onto Brayford Way heading to the B1003 Ropewalk/Tritton Road University Roundabout (on the approach to the roundabout stay in the 2 right hand lanes)
- At the Roundabout continue right, southbound onto the B1003 Tritton Rd passing through various pedestrian crossings and the signalised junctions at Beevor Street, Centaur Way, Dixon Street, Skellingthorpe Road and Doddington Road to the B1003/A1434 Tritton Road/Newark Road junction.
- At the junction take the A1434 in a south-westerly direction passing through the Asda Roundabout and various pedestrian and signalised junction until Hykeham Roundabout
- Take the first exit to rejoin the A46 southbound.
Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the solid square symbol on road signs:
- From the A46 Doddington Roundabout, take the third exit onto the B1190
- Continue south/eastbound along the B1190 Doddington Road passing through the Station Road signalised junction and over the rail level crossing to the B1190/B1003 Doddington Road/Tritton Road Junction
- At the B1190/B1003 Doddington Road/Tritton Road Junction turn left heading north onto the B1003 Tritton Road.
- Continue northbound along Tritton Road passing through various pedestrian and signalised junctions to the B1003/B1378 Tritton Road/Skellingthorpe Road Junction
- At the junction turn left onto the B1378 Skellingthorpe Road in a north- westerly direction passing through various pedestrian crossings, the rail level crossing and the Birchwood Road signalised junction until the A46 Skellingthorpe RBT.
- Then rejoin the A46 northbound
