Urgent appeal and £10,000 reward to find suspect after shot fired in Nottingham

Crimestoppers is offering up to £10,000 for the whereabouts of a man wanted in connection with a violent incident involving a firearm.

The charity is appealing to the public to contact them anonymously if they know the whereabouts of 31-year-old Quamai Nugent.

Officers attended Lowdham Street in St Ann’s at around 5am on Sunday 2 June after a firearm was discharged in the street.

Police have already arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of public order and firearms offences before he was taken to hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound to his foot.

A handgun was recovered from the scene and has been taken away for further examination.

Nugent is wanted in connection with this incident and is believed to be in hiding.

He is known across the county but has strong links in the St Ann’s area.

Crimestoppers, a charity which is independent of the police, is supporting this investigation by offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information that they exclusively receive that leads to the arrest of Quamai Nugent.

The reward is available for three months. They are appealing to the public to contact them anonymously if they know where he is.

The advice is not to approach Nugent, but to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or, if you wish to stay anonymous or to request a reward, contact Crimestoppers.

Detective Inspector Lisa Marie-Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police’s CID said:

“As the public would expect, we are treating this incident extremely seriously.

“We have carried out extensive lines of inquiry and searches for Nugent and executed a warrant at an address of those he is associated with.

“Nugent is a dangerous individual, and it is imperative that he is brought into custody immediately.

“We believe that he is lying low and is very aware we are searching for him. Remember that if he is staying with you, you are potentially assisting an offender which is also a serious offence.

“We are calling on those who are keeping him hidden or those who know where he is hiding to give us the address. If you also spot him in the area or have any information about his whereabouts then please do get in touch.

“You can do it completely anonymously through Crimestoppers.

“Nugent is wanted in connection with a series of extremely serious offences including possession of a firearm with intent to cause serious injury or endanger life and assault causing grievous bodily harm.

“We will continue to pursue all lines of inquiry until we locate Nugent and will not stop until he is in cuffs.

“We are extremely grateful that the charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for anyone with information which leads to the arrest of Nugent.

“Please help us take this man off our streets.”

Lydia Patsalides, East Midlands Regional Manager at the charity Crimestoppers, said:

“Amid rising concerns, our charity is backing the effort to catch this dangerous person by offering a reward and reminding people that they have the option to use Crimestoppers and stay anonymous.

“We know that people can be reluctant to speak to law enforcement and give their details, especially when it involves high risk criminals. Crimestoppers offers a safe alternative, guaranteeing complete anonymity. No police. No courts. No witness statements.

“If you know where Nugent is located, please speak up. Crimestoppers is open 24/ 7, 365 days a year via our website and also on the phone. Your information could make all the difference.”
