Van crashes into wall in Valley Road West Bridgford

Two suspects have been arrested after a van was driven dangerously along residential streets before crashing into a wall.

The vehicle was spotted by officers on patrol around 1.40am on Tuesday (29 July) close to Nottingham Knight Island.

After checks revealed the transit van was being driven using suspected cloned plates, officers followed it for a short period.

The van failed to stop and was driven at high speeds before colliding with a boundary wall in Valley Road, West Bridgford.

Two occupants of the vehicle fled but were detained nearby by officers.

A 16-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for an officer, theft, driving without a licence or insurance and possession of cannabis.

Inspector Tim Cuthbert, neighbourhood policing inspector for Rushcliffe, said:

“The standard of driving demonstrated during this incident was appalling and put anyone out on the roads at risk.

“The crash also caused damage to one property and will have been concerning to those in neighbouring homes.

“Officers on patrol did a great job to bring the incident to a safe conclusion with the arrest of these two suspects.

“Anyone with relevant dashcam footage, or any other information which could assist, should get in touch with us.”
