On Saturday volunteers from the Grantham Canal Society joined local councillors and residents along the Gamston stretch of Grantham Canal to tidy up the area.
Over 12 one-tonne bags of green waste was taken away with the area around the lock now transformed and the area looking a lot more inviting.
Councillors Jonathan Wheeler, Davinder Virdi and Roger Upton joined Parish Councillors Gary Arkless and Geoff Prett in getting their hands dirty alongside the volunteers.
Jonathan told the Wire:
“It was a great day and exhausting, but to see the difference we have all made makes it worth it.
“It was great to see members of the community out and coming along with drinks and mince pies to keep us going.
“I would like to thank Streetwise for dropping off equipment we could use and taking away the green waste and to the great volunteers from the Grantham Canal Society.
“They gave up their time to help improve our area and it is truly appreciated.
“If you would like to join the volunteers at other locations along the canal please sign up today.’
