Vue Cinemas has announced it will take over a multiplex in Nottingham city centre, following Cineworld’s decision to close the venue.
Cineworld confirmed the 14-screen cinema at The Cornerhouse would show its final film on Sunday, February 2, before ceasing operations.
The landlord of the cinema described the closure as “unfortunate” but confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Vue to become the new operator. Vue plans to reopen the cinema later this year after a temporary closure for refurbishment.
A Vue spokesperson stated: “We are excited to confirm our plans to open at The Cornerhouse, Nottingham. We look forward to delivering the ultimate big-screen experience and will provide further updates in the near future.”

A representative for the building’s owner added that the refurbishment would create a “state-of-the-art cinema for Nottingham city centre.”
Cineworld explained the closure as part of a broader restructuring effort in the UK. Other Cineworld locations in Castleford, Leigh, Northampton, Middlesbrough, and Poole are also set to close on the same day.
