Weekday Cross: Teenagers charged after Nottingham city knife incident

Two teenagers are due to appear in court after knives were wielded in the street.

Police were called to Weekday Cross, in Nottingham City Centre, at 12.31 pm on Wednesday 31 January after a confrontation between two groups was reported.

No injuries were reported but an investigation was immediately launched to identify those involved.

Police attended a number of addresses across the city on Tuesday (6 February) morning and arrested five teenage suspects.

An 18-year-old man of Nottingham has been charged with affray and threatening a person with a blade / sharply pointed article in a public place.

A second 18-year-old man was also charged with the same offences.

Both men have been remanded into custody and will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday).

Two 17-year-old boys and another 16-year-old boy have been released on conditional police bail as investigations continue.

Detective Sergeant Alana Scott, who is leading the investigation, said:

“We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and have been working over the last week to identify all the people involved.

“I am pleased we have now been able to charge two suspects and look forward to continuing our investigation.”
