West Bridgford: Gymnastics Academy looking for new members after expansion

Notts Gymnastics Academy (NGA) in West Bridgford has been a place where children, young people and adults across Nottingham have discovered the excitement, skill and joy of gymnastics for decades.

As its community has grown, so has its ambitions, and this is a new chapter in their story.

Following a major facility expansion in 2025 with the introduction of a brand-new Participation Gym, the West Bridgford centre, located on Boundary Road, is now one of the largest and best gymnastics facilities in the country.

With increased capacity across their participation programmes, they are now delighted to be able to welcome more families and gymnasts from across Nottingham than ever before.

Whether someone is stepping into the gym for the first time, rediscovering a passion they had as a child, or developing their skills further, there’s absolutely a place for them to shine. Their Participation Programmes now include:

• Best-in-class, fun and engaging preschool classes

• A GymSchool programme developing gymnastics and life skills

• Adult sessions for new and lifelong gymnasts

• An inclusive programme for those with additional needs

• Supportive pathways for those who want to progress into more advanced gymnastics and compete at a local and regional level

Each of their programmes is led by highly qualified, experienced and inclusive coaches who are committed to ensuring that every individual has a meaningful experience, no matter what class they attend.

At NGA, they continue to nurture talented gymnasts and support athletes to compete on the regional, national and international stage, most recently with NGA senior men’s gymnast, Alex Yolshin-Cash, competing at his first World Championships, representing Great Britain and securing fifth place in the world on the pommel. A proud moment for everyone at Notts, showcasing what is possible for a Nottingham local.

NGA’s performance pathways and participation programmes share the same foundation: high-quality coaching, a supportive atmosphere and a passion for helping people grow. This balance ensures that every gymnast, no matter their goals, feels encouraged and valued, allowing them to be their best and achieve their very best.

Participation Director (Strategy & Growth), Ben Mathews, said: “With our increased capacity following our incredible facility expansion, we have now been able to open more spaces across our fantastic programmes.

“This means that local families and local businesses now have more opportunities to join and partner with us, which is something we’re genuinely excited about. For many, gymnastics becomes more than just a weekly class.

“It builds friendships, confidence and life skills. Just as importantly, gymnastics creates memories and offers children (and adults!) a chance to challenge themselves in a positive, encouraging environment. And for us, the best part is seeing people walk in with excitement and walk out with pride.”
