West Bridgford: Image released after ‘violent racist attack’ on man in front of his young children in Iceland store

West Bridgford – Officers have released CCTV images of a man they wish to trace after a racially aggravated assault on a father in front of his two young children.

  • Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man captured in CCTV images after a racially aggravated assault at Iceland supermarket in West Bridgford on July 8th.
  • The incident involved a 45-year-old father who was racially abused and then punched by the suspect in front of his two young children.
  • Despite multiple lines of inquiry, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains unidentified.
  • The victim suffered minor injuries
  • Police urge anyone with information or who recognises the man in the released images to contact them immediately on 101, quoting incident 0482 of July 8th, 2024, or to reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously.

The incident happened at Iceland supermarket in Tudor Square in West Bridgford on Monday 8 July just before 4.30pm.

The victim, aged 45, was shopping with his two young children when he was approached by a man who racially abused him.

He then punched the dad-of-two before the store manager intervened. The man then left the supermarket and police were called.

Officers have carried out multiple lines of inquiry to identify the man responsible, but no arrests have been made yet.

Police have now released these images of a man that could help with their inquiries and are calling on the public’s help to identify him. Call 101, quoting incident 0482 of July 8th, 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously.

PC Dawn Daniels, who is investigating the incident, said:

“This was an appalling and completely unprovoked attack on a man in front of his two young children.

“Luckily, the victim was left with minor injuries. However, this certainly does not take away the seriousness of this incident.

 

“This was a violent attack in a supermarket and we are determined to catch the person responsible.

“We have now released images of a man that could help us further our investigation and are calling on the public’s help.
