Long delays and queues are likely to form as the centre reopens.
Cllr Wheeler said: ‘I am delighted the centre is reopening for the people who have essential waste they need to dispose of, however, if your need is not urgent please avoid attending the recycling centre to start with.
“As people will be aware of the big queues seen around the country, this could gridlock local roads if everyone descends at once.
“Please also be kind and respectful to the teams working in the centre and on traffic management who are doing everything they can to help and following the strict health and safety measures in place for everyone’s safety’
‘As daft as it may seem, some people have been queueing for the tips to drop off non-essential waste such as old plant pots and garden furniture.
“We also have reports from other sites of people saying that they were simply bored of being at home so we’re bringing items that could have gone in a black bin. The recycling facilities are open for what people can’t safely store at home and it would be appreciated if people could keep that in mind to ensure the re-opening can be safely managed’
