An announcement is expected later this week.
Nottingham City Council leader Cllr David Mellen said:
‘The Government has announced a new tier system of Covid-19 restrictions for when the current national lockdown ends on 2 December.
‘We will know on Thursday whether Nottingham has been placed in the category Medium, High or Very High.
‘Since the tier system was last used, Covid rates in Nottingham have fallen and our city is now below the national average.
‘That is thanks to the way people have followed the rules and worked together to stop the spread of the virus.
‘We know that the new High and Very High restrictions require people not to mix households so, regardless of which tier we are in from next week, we will need people to continue to follow the rules for a while longer.
‘While we wait for the vaccine, the best defence remains to follow the hands/face/space guidance and book a test if you have symptoms of Covid-19 by calling 119.’
Nottinghamshire’s Covid infection rate per 100,000 resident population was 252 at 18 November ( latest figures ).
