Officers investigating a fight where a man sustained a stab wound are appealing for witnesses.
Police attended Hardwick Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, following reports of a violent clash between two groups.
Members of the groups had fled from the scene by the time officers arrived, around 7.10pm on Sunday (22 March).
One man was located nearby, however, having sustained what appeared to be a single stab wound to his back.
He was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, which aren’t believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.
A 22-year-old man was detained close by, at which point he was arrested on suspicion of affray.
Inquiries are ongoing to identify who was involved in the fight, with police now appealing to the public for help.
Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We’re still in the process of trying to establish exactly what happened during this incident.
“What we do know is that two groups of people were involved in a fight and that a man sustained an injury consistent with a stab wound at some point during this.
“While his injuries are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering, this was still quite clearly a very serious offence.
“As such, we’re keen to track down anyone who could’ve been responsible, so would ask anyone who saw what happened to share this with us.
“We also want to hear from anyone who may have heard any information relating to this incident or may have recorded footage of it taking place.”
