A man has been charged after a woman was stabbed at a house.
The victim was taken to hospital after she was found in Bowbridge Road, Newark, on Wednesday morning.
She had been helped by a member of the public having sustained injuries at a nearby property and was treated by paramedics who were nearby.
A short time later an arrest was made at Newark Police Station.
Detectives have now charged a 34-year-old man from Newark with wounding with intent.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Detective Sergeant Neil Allsop, of Nottinghamshire’s police public protection unit, said: “This was an isolated incident and those involved are known to each other.
“The victim remains in hospital and her injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening or altering.
“We are continuing to support her and making sure she gets access to any help she may need going forward.
“The Newark neighbourhood team has stepped up patrols in the area to reassure the local community and people are encouraged to talk to them if they have any concerns at all.
“As a force, Nottinghamshire Police takes knife crime extremely seriously and we will thoroughly investigate any incidents reported to us.”
