100 cocaine wraps seized during patrols in Nottingham neighbourhood

Neighbourhood police seized around 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs after patrols in a hotspot area for drug crime.

Officers attended Westville Gardens, St Ann’s, Nottingham, around 6.10pm on Monday (5 May) after receiving reports drug dealers were operating in the neighbourhood.

A teenager ran from officers but was tracked by neighbourhood and response officers and later detained in St Ann’s Well Road.

Officers recovered a package from a garden nearby containing the wraps of suspected heroin.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Police Constable Sara Marriott, of the city south neighbourhood policing team, said:

“Tackling drug crime and arresting the dealers who operate in our communities is a priority for our team.

“We have a number of hotspot areas where residents have reported the impact of drug crime on their daily lives and officers focus on these for our patrols.

“The officers involved in this arrest should be commended for their tenacity in tracking the suspect and detaining him as well as taking a substantial amount of drugs off the streets.

“It was an excellent piece of teamwork involving close liaison between different groups of officers and the force control room.

“If you are aware of drug crime taking place in your neighbourhood please let us know about it so we can take appropriate action.”
