Police found up to 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs and a knife when they stopped and searched a car.
Officers from the City Knife Crime Team were on patrol in Plantagenet Street, St Ann’s, Nottingham, on Wednesday (11 October) at around 9.50 am when they spotted a vehicle known to them.
As officers approached, the car was seen to collide with a stationary vehicle.
The wraps of suspected heroin and cocaine were discovered hidden inside the vehicle, along with a knife, mobile phones and cash, when officers carried out a search.
A 66-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a knife in a public place.
Sergeant Matt Daley, of the City Knife Crime Team, said:
“Proactive car stops like this are an important part of our work and it is always a good result when we can take a knife and drugs off the street.
“It is also a good example of why we remain vigilant on patrol to vehicles we have had reason to pull over previously.
“We will never tolerate criminals arming themselves with dangerous knives and using our streets to push drugs to vulnerable people.
“Our investigation into the incident remains ongoing and anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 23000632059, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
