A man has been arrested after an Amazon delivery driver’s van was stolen in Carlton.
The vehicle was parked outside a home in Cavendish Road, Carlton, while the driver delivered a parcel at around 5.40pm on Sunday 21 June.
After making the delivery, the driver saw the van being driven away and contacted police.
Officers searched the area and found the van in a car park off Thackeray’s Lane, Woodthorpe, at around 6pm.
A man seen leaving the area when officers arrived was detained. Police said he was found in possession of a packet of biscuits which the delivery driver had reported had been inside the van.
Officers also recovered the vehicle keys, which were found discarded nearby, and a self-heating lunch box belonging to the driver.
A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
Police Constable James Roberts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The victim was simply doing his job when the van he relies upon was stolen.
“We would urge delivery drivers, and other motorists, to take every possible precaution to avoid becoming the victim of opportunistic criminals.
“Locking vehicles and turning off engines only takes a second but prevents desperate offenders taking advantage.
“Despite the arrest, our investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information, or relevant mobile phone, dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage, should get in touch.”
