Cases in England

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Between 25 June 2022 and 1 July 2022, 139,272 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 26.5% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations in England

Vaccines are given in several doses.

45,095,923 people had been given a first dose by the end of 5 July 2022.

42,216,234 people had been given a second dose by the end of 5 July 2022.

33,242,682 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 5 July 2022.

Healthcare in England

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

Between 28 June 2022 and 4 July 2022, 11,028 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 32.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 11,465 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 6 July 2022.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 217 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 6 July 2022.

Deaths in England

Between 25 June 2022 and 1 July 2022, there have been 454 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 13.2% compared to the previous 7 days.
