A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of violence to secure entry and criminal damage following an incident at West Brigdford last night.
Officers were called to George Road at around 10.30pm following the report of a siege.
It was reported the man had barricaded himself inside the house and began to cause damage within.
Detective Sergeant Matt Grant is leading the investigation. He said: “Officers were quickly on the scene following a call last night where concerns were raised for the safety of a man and a number of others who were within the property at the time of the call.
“Officers carefully engaged with the occupant of the address for more than an hour before recovering a knife and arresting the man as part of their enquiries.
“The man suffered self-inflicted injuries to his head and was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment. He remains in police custody.
“The other occupant from the property was taken to safety by officers and received no injuries.”
