Fast-moving officers located a stolen motorhome within minutes before using stingers to stop it.
The owner of the vehicle rang the police after waking up to find it being driven from their Lowdham driveway.
After receiving the call at 12.45am on Wednesday (27 August), police tracked the motorhome down before the clock struck 1am.
A mixture of response and Operational Support officers had by that point spotted the Peugeot Boxer driving along the Oxton Bypass.
After trailing the motorhome for a short while, a decision was made by the policing teams to deploy stingers to pop the tyres and stop the vehicle.
They successfully managed to do so, near the Ollerton Roundabout on the A614, with the driver then jumping from the vehicle and trying to run away.
The suspect didn’t get very far though before the response officers in attendance caught up with him and placed him in handcuffs.
An 18-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
PC Josh Walker, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a great example of different policing teams working together and utilising all the information at our disposal to quickly resolve an incident.
“Within minutes of the call about the theft coming in, we were able to locate the stolen motorhome, catch up with it, and use stingers to bring it to a safe stop.
“The owner of the vehicle was understandably very upset about what happened, so it was pleasing to be able to quickly return their property to them.”
