Updates: A46 closed both ways in Rushcliffe – multiple collisions

Police have closed the A46 in Rushcliffe in both directions.

Nottinghamshire Police | 10 am

Closures are now in place on the A46 near Willoughby-on-the-Wolds, between junctions with the A606 and A6006.

National Highways | 8:18 am

The A46 is now only fully closed southbound between the A606 at Hickling and the
B676 near Six Hills.

1 lane (of 2) has re-opened on the northbound carriageway.

Emergency services remain on scene dealing with the multiple collisions which have occurred in the vicinity.

‘The A46 remains closed in both directions between the A606 Hickling Pastures and B676 Six Hills due to several collisions in the area.

‘Nottinghamshire Police and Leicestershire Police are in attendance.

‘Local diversions are in place. Please allow extra time if in the area this morning.’

The A46 in Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire is closed in both directions between the A606 at Hickling and the B676 near Six Hills.

This is due to multiple collisions which have occurred in close proximity due to adverse weather and road conditions.

Nottinghamshire Police are managing the incidents which have occurred on the southbound carriageway, whilst Leicestershire Police are dealing with the northbound incidents.

National Highways contractors will be attending both incidents to assist with gritting the road surface and ensure it is safe before re-opening.

Traffic is being diverted via local roads. Road users are advised due to drive with extra caution this morning due to adverse road conditions.

‘The A46 between Six Hills and Willoughby-on-the-Wolds is currently closed due to rtc. we are asking drivers to not take this route as there is a high risk of skidding. please find an alternate route. updates to follow.’
