“Alongside these enquiries, our uniformed colleagues in the neighbourhood team have increased reassurance patrols in the area. If anyone has any concerns, we’d encourage them to approach one of our officers.
“Specially trained officers are supporting the victim as our enquiries continue, and every effort is being made to locate the person responsible.
“I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious or has any information that could help the investigation to come forward as soon as possible and call us on 101, quoting incident number 617 of 19 January 2026.
“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
There have been number of incidents at the park in the last year, a serious assault occurred on 25 October 2025, when a man in his 20s was attacked at the Forest Recreation Ground and had his ear bitten off during an altercation with a group of men. Two suspects (aged 30 and 40) were arrested and released on police bail while inquiries, including CCTV and forensic work, continued. Police released an image of another man they sought to identify to assist the investigation.
In the early hours of 12 August 2025, a woman reportedly assaulted and robbed at Forest Recreation Ground had her bag stolen. The victim was approached by a man and later left the scene before police arrival. A member of the public attempted to help. Police appealed for anyone with information — including the intervening man — to contact them.
On 9 July 2025, police increased patrols after a woman in her 20s reported being grabbed on the arm by an unknown man while walking through the park near Gregory Boulevard. She escaped, and officers linked this suspect to a separate suspicious encounter near a nearby school. Local police boosted CCTV coverage and visible patrols as part of the inquiry.
The July incident led Nottinghamshire Police to step up routine patrols and CCTV deployment at Forest Recreation Ground due to multiple reports of concerning behaviour and to reassure the community while investigations proceeded.
