A 36-year-old man has been jailed for more than four years after a police pursuit in Nottingham involving a vehicle on cloned number plates.
Christopher Cremonesis, of Liddington Street, Basford, was sentenced to four years and two months’ imprisonment at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday 19 March.
The court heard that on 13 March last year Cremonesis was driving a BMW displaying cloned plates when he was seen by officers in an armed response vehicle. Police followed the car and arranged for a tyre-deflation device to be deployed on Queen’s Drive.
Cremonesis stopped at traffic lights before reversing into the pursuing police vehicle. Officers then pushed the car forward over the device, puncturing all four tyres.
He continued driving into The Meadows before mounting a grass verge in Ayton Close. Officers brought the incident to an end by making tactical contact with the vehicle, preventing him from leaving the area.

Cremonesis declined to answer questions in police interview but later admitted a series of offences. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
He also admitted perverting the course of justice after falsely reporting his motorcycle as stolen. The court heard he had exchanged the bike for a car of similar value and claimed it had been taken by the new owner. He was on bail for that offence at the time of the driving incidents.
Detective Sergeant Adam Rose, of Nottinghamshire Police, said Cremonesis had shown a disregard for public safety during the incident.
