Man arrested after woman assaulted in Ruddington pub

A suspect has been arrested following an assault on a woman and a foot chase through Ruddington.

Police were called to Church Street, Ruddington, around 7.25pm on Thursday (29 May) after reports the victim had been punched in the face in a pub during a domestic incident.

Officers searched the area and were able to detain a suspect following a foot chase.

The man was pursued through a nearby club and a window was smashed at another property as he attempted to flee.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and burglary.

He was further arrested for a previous assault, and criminal damage after a custody cell was damaged following his arrest.

Inspector Tim Cuthbert, local area commander for Rushcliffe, said:

“Officers responded quickly to reports of the assault and were able to detain a suspect following a determined search and pursuit.

“Investigations are ongoing and we’d still like to hear from anyone with information about the incident, particularly those who were in the pub at the time and have not yet given an account to officers.”
