The family of an 86-year-old woman who was knocked down outside a supermarket have paid tribute to a “precious mum, granny and great-granny”.
Maureen Sanderson was crossing over the entrance to a supermarket car park when she was fatally injured on 13 October last year.
The driver, who had been attempting to turn left out of the supermarket car park, was later convicted of causing death by careless driving.
Mrs Sanderson lived in Aspley and previously worked on the children’s ward at Nottingham City Hospital.
Her family said in a statement:
“Our mum was everything to us.
“She was a very dear, loving and precious mum, granny and great-granny.
“She was kind and caring, didn’t interfere, but was always there when needed.
“She had many friends and loved socialising.
“Looking nice and making sure her hair looked its best was always important to her.
“She had a zest for life and was stoic, strong and as independent as she could be, not wanting to put upon anyone.
“She worked hard throughout her life, and her favourite job was as a ward receptionist at the City Hospital on the children’s ward, where she loved stepping in to comfort poorly children who needed a bit of extra care.
“In early retirement, she enjoyed holidays abroad with her beloved husband, our dad, whom she adored.
“She is greatly missed by us all. Life will never be the same without our dear mum, granny and great-granny.”
