Police have introduced a dispersal order covering Clifton and surrounding areas following concerns about antisocial behaviour, crime and disorder.
The Section 34 order came into force at 3pm today, Friday 28 August, and will remain in place throughout the weekend.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers would be visible in the area during the weekend to deter antisocial behaviour and take action where necessary.
The force has not specified the incidents that led to the order or provided details of its precise geographical boundary and expiry time in the information published.
Under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, officers can direct a person to leave the area covered by an order and prevent them from returning for a specified period. Police may also stipulate the route the person must take when leaving.
Children aged under 16 can be taken home or to a place of safety, with their parents or guardians notified.
Refusing to leave, returning to the area during the specified period or failing to follow an officer’s directions without a reasonable excuse is a criminal offence and may result in arrest.
